Programs
Through our community enrichment program,
offers opportunities, such as a Halloween Carnival, Thanksgiving Dinner, and a Spring Carnival, for residents in the service area to gather, socialize, and receive beneficial information and services.
Also during the Christmas season, we provide Christmas gifts for children from low income families, handing them out at the Christmas Dinner.
Another part of community enrichment is the senior citizens program, designed to offer educational opportunities as well as entertainment for the elderly (55 and older) population. Such events include Senior Bingo events as well as a Senior Christmas Lunch.
Manchester
Center's social services are provided year round, upon request. Much of our Social Services Program involves referrals to other agencies for services. For residents within our local area, we provide assistance with rent and utilities. For the
Lexington
community at large, we refer clients to organizations such as God's Pantry for food, Christ Church Cathedral for cleaning supplies, and Southland Christian Church for furniture and household items. In addition to this, we give out diapers and provide bus passes or other transportation.
We also operate a clothing Bank, currently open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9am to 11 am and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 12pm.
We believe that the best method of ensuring a positive future for the neighborhood and its residents is through their children. By creating a healthy environment and providing positive role models at an early age,
Manchester
Center
helps children to grow into healthy, productive adults and community leaders. Therefore, the real heart of
Manchester
Center's mission is in our child care programs.

Manchester
Center's preschool program, for children ages 3 to 5, offers a safe, healthy learning environment with developmentally appropriate learning activities and qualified staff who can provide a positive first classroom experience. By the time they finish the program, our preschoolers will have acquired the skills necessary to have a successful kindergarten experience.
Our preschool is NAEYC-accredited, licensed by the state of
Kentucky
, and a Head Start partnership site as well.
Eligible families can receive support from the Child Care Assistance Program. Daily activities for the children include learning centers, recreation time, arts and crafts, story and rest time, as well as breakfast, lunch and snacks.
Outcomes of preschool activities focus on the children's cognitive, social and emotional development to provide them with a positive educational experience while promoting parental involvement.
